Our EMS Music Dept. got some amazing news from our state organization, WSMA.
Back on April 13th, students had the opportunity in band and in choir to try out for the State level Band/Choir, kind of like a sport going to state.
This year there were around 2,000 or kids that tried out, and we had AWESOME representation from EMS, having a total of 23 students audition, and of those 23, we have 5 students fully selected, and another 7 on the alternate list for the STATE CHOIR OR BAND!! There are only 300ish spots given out, and an even smaller amount for the alternate list, so making either one is a crazy deal!🎉

Since the passage of the Facilities Referendum in April, our staff, construction professionals, and finance professionals have been working hard to move the project forward.
We have great news on the financing of the construction bonds. We had originally estimated an interest rate of 5.5% and a tax impact per $100,000 of home value when the referendum was brought to residents. We have officially sold the first $14.4 million in bonds at a rate of 4.46% which will lower the estimated tax impact by nearly 10% from our original projection of $79 per $100,000 of home value to $72 per $100,000 in value. Over the life of the borrowing, it is currently estimated that we will avoid about $3.2 million in interest with this lower rate. It is always great for our residents to be able to complete the projects with a lower tax impact than originally anticipated.
Over the past number of weeks many meetings have been held with staff, construction managers, and architects to begin the design phase. Along with these meetings we have conducted visits to other school districts to view their facilities while also visiting CVTC and Stout regarding their engineering programs to assist in our visioning of spaces and curriculum as we move ahead.
We are moving now into the phase of beginning actual designs that will ultimately lead to the bidding documents that will go out this winter. Again, we are planning for actual work to begin in April, 2025 with all projects completed by August, 2026.
Look for much more information to come as we solidify plans and move ahead and thank you again for your support of this project.

Can you believe it's already the third Monday of May? That means we're almost wrapping up the school year! As we're in the thick of Mental Health Awareness Month, let's talk about the importance of kicking off conversations around mental health. Whether you notice a friend or family member is going through a tough time or you want to open up about your own mental well-being, it's crucial to start those discussions. Remember, if someone shares their struggles with you and you're worried about their safety, don't hesitate to seek help from a trusted adult or professional. Let's keep the dialogue going and support each other's mental wellness!
If you have any mental health-related questions, don't hesitate to reach out to our Mental Health Coordinator, Kiley Fiala, at fialak@ellsworth.k12.wi.us. She's here to guide you in the right direction!
