On January 15, our 4th and 5th graders took part in Ellsworth Elementary’s 3rd annual Career Day, and it was such a great day of learning and exploring.

Fourth graders rotated through seven different speakers, moving to a new classroom every 15 minutes so they could hear from everyone. Fifth graders chose three out of six speakers to visit and spent 30 minutes in each session digging a little deeper into careers that interested them. Before Career Day, our fifth graders also took a short Myers-Briggs personality test, then researched a job that matched their personality. They created career posters for our “neighborhood,” including salary, required education, and other details about each job.

Like always, our speakers were amazing. Hearing people talk about what they do with so much passion helps open our students’ eyes to careers they may have never known about. These kinds of experiences really help students start imagining what their own futures could look like.

A big thank you to all of our speakers who made this day possible:

WI State Patrol
WI DNR
Pierce County Sheriff’s Department
Loberg’s Law Office
Coach Staley
KNN Farms
Brush Strokes
Pierce County Highway Department
Tim Schmit, Pilot
Westconsin Credit Union
Principal Nygaard
Ellsworth Police Department

We are so grateful for our community partners who take the time to invest in our students and share their experiences. 💜🐾

🎶 A Cappella at EMS! 🎶
We recently had the UW–Eau Claire Audacious A Cappella visit our middle school choir students for a fun and inspiring session. They shared what makes a cappella so unique and gave our students a great look at vocal music beyond the classroom.

It was extra special to welcome back Ellsworth grad Maci Gutting, who joined the group for the visit. 💜🐾

Thanks for spending time with our students and sharing your love of music. Panther Pride!

Our second graders wrapped up their government unit on Rules and Laws in a very meaningful way. ❤️

After learning about how rules and laws help keep our communities safe, students enjoyed visits from Officer Paul, Deputy Smith, Deputy Huppert, and K9 Ares. The officers made great connections between what students were learning in class and how it applies in real life here in our community.

As part of the unit, second grade students also collected food and easy to eat snacks for officers from Pierce County, St. Croix County, and the Woodville Police Department. These snacks were chosen with busy schedules in mind and were a small way to say thank you for all they do.

Our students asked thoughtful questions, made great connections to their learning, and showed just how engaged and caring they are. What a great example of learning in action. 💜🐾

Our middle school Phy Ed teachers, Ms. Yaeger and Mr. Campbell, came up with a fun way to encourage participation in nontraditional sports and get students outside, especially during hunting season. 🦌🌲

Students were invited to share their hunting experiences, and it gave us a sneak peek at some pretty impressive bucks they were seeing this season. Even better, it was all about participation, not just the outcome.

They recognized four different winners:
• Biggest Buck – awarded to the student who harvested the largest buck
• Three Buck Board Winners – students chosen at random who harvested either a buck or a doe
• Unsuccessful Hunter – awarded to a student who went hunting but didn’t harvest anything

The goal was to celebrate time outdoors, effort, and participation, not just success. Students loved it, and it was a great way to highlight learning and experiences happening beyond the classroom. 💜🐾

At last night's regular meeting, the School Board approved a resolution for the operational referendum that will appear on the April 7, 2026 ballot. The current operational levy in the amount of $1,300,000 is expiring at the end of this school year. In response to community survey results, administration recommended and the School Board approved moving forward with an operational referendum in the amount of $2,185,000 for four years. More information regarding the operational referendum will be coming in the form of newsletters, flyers, website, and social media. Members of the district leadership will be available at school events between now and the election. As always, you can reach out to me at nadeaub@ellsworth.k12.wi.us or 715-273-3900 for more information. Sincerely, Brian Nadeau Superintendent

💙💛 An update we’ve been hoping to share

We received a message from the principal of Radomyshl HUB Lyceum 2 letting us know that the school supplies our students raised and shipped have arrived safely.

The principal shared that the pupils and teachers were extremely pleasantly surprised. The school supplies will be used during lessons and for creative activities. The blankets will be especially helpful when students are in shelters during air raid alerts. The torches are critical during power outages, and the calculators will be put to good use in math classes.

Most meaningful of all, they shared how much the gifts, fundraising effort, and letters of support meant to them. They said the entire shipment brought joy and a strong feeling of support, and that they were deeply touched by our students’ kindness.

We are so proud of our students for organizing this fundraiser and showing what it means to care for others, even across the world. 💜🐾

💙💛 An update we’ve been hoping to share We received a message from the principal of Radomyshl HUB Lyceum 2 letting us know that the school supplies our students raised and shipped have arrived safely. The principal shared that the pupils and teachers were extremely pleasantly surprised. The school supplies will be used during lessons and for creative activities. 🪵✨ Hands-on learning in action!

Our foreign exchange student Max Revolta-Piot has been hard at work in General Woods class, putting time and care into building his own table. It’s been great to see his focus, creativity, and craftsmanship come together as the project takes shape.

We love seeing students learn new skills and take pride in what they create. Nice work, Max! 💜🐾

🩺 A Message from the School Nurse 🩺

We want to remind families about important guidelines to help keep everyone healthy this season:

🌡️ Fever: If your child has a fever of 100.0°F or higher, they should remain at home until they are fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication.
🤢 Vomiting or Diarrhea: If your child experiences vomiting or excessive diarrhea (three or more episodes within 24 hours), they can return to school once they have been free of symptoms for 24 hours.

🔍 Please monitor your student’s health closely before sending them to school. If they are feeling unwell with symptoms like fever, vomiting, or diarrhea, allow them to recover at home to help reduce the spread of illness within our buildings.

Your efforts make a big difference in keeping everyone well. Thank you for your cooperation and care! 💙
