This past Monday night, the Board of Education took action to approve a Facilities Referendum model for the April 2, 2024, election date. The question coming to the voters was shaped by the results of our recent community survey and we are thankful for the feedback we received. Ultimately, the Facilities Referendum will seek approval of $25.445 million to address the following needs: Addressing aging building systems at the middle school and senior high school. This addresses many life cycle needs of our mechanical systems, flooring, windows, doors, etc that have not been previously addressed in earlier projects. Remodeling and expanding the Career and Tech Ed areas at the middle school and high school to provide for a modern program that prepares our students for the many career opportunities in the trades, business, engineering and manufacturing. Providing for an addition onto the rear of the high school to expand the physical education/fitness area along with an expansion of the gymnasium lobby to provide for more quality spaces that meet the needs of our phy ed programs, athletics, and the community. The community survey originally tested community support for $34.3 million in projects for the middle and high school along with renovations to outdoor athletic fields. The survey also tested the support for a $6.1 million childcare facility. The projects coming to the voters today are the result of the feedback we received that did not demonstrate support for the outdoor athletic field space renovations or the child care facility and reflect the projects that received greater levels of support while reducing the tax impact that was also demonstrated as a concern. Ultimately, the projects presented to the public follow the recommendations we received from the survey company. Much more information will be coming in the following weeks and months as we move toward the April 2, 2024, election date. I encourage all parents and voters of the district to engage in this important decision. I am always available for questions related to these projects so feel free to connect with me at any time. Thank you, Barry Cain, Superintendent

Mrs. Peterson’s Third Grade WIN group. After reading the text about the Guinness World Record for the largest card house, students worked on building their own card houses. This lesson included a productive struggle and perseverance. After trying to build, they learned about friction and ways to improve their buildings.
