Today is the anniversary of the first federal special education law: The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). This law guarantees that all children are entitled to an education to match their needs. There are no words to thank our hardworking teachers, therapists, and staff who teach and support our students every day. There are also no words to thank our students for teaching us so much more than we could ever teach them.

Guess what our amazing 5th graders have been up to? 🀩 They've been diving into the fascinating world of nature by learning about the life cycle of trout! 🐣🌿 A few weeks ago, our young scientists received trout eggs, and guess what? They've already hatched! 🐟πŸ₯š The students are now actively involved in monitoring and maintaining the environment for their tiny aquatic friends. Thanks to the generous support from the Excel Grant with the Ellsworth School Foundation, we're able to provide this hands-on learning experience for our students. πŸ™ŒπŸ“š The initial funding has paved the way for an enriching journey that connects our students with the wonders of nature. Over the next several months, our 5th graders will be dedicated caretakers, ensuring the well-being and growth of these trout. They'll be conducting water tests, learning about ecosystems, and fostering a sense of responsibility. The ultimate goal? Releasing these trout into Isabelle Creek, contributes to the conservation of our local environment. πŸŒŽπŸ’™ Let's cheer on our young scientists!!

Help protect your children -- and their classmates -- when they're under the weather so that they can return to the classroom healthy and ready to learn. When your child is sick the best thing you can do is to keep your children home when sick. This will help stop the spread of illness to other children and teachers. Keep them home when they show any of these symptoms: fever of 100 degrees F or higher nausea or vomiting severe headache diarrhea red, watery eyes with yellow or green drainage undiagnosed rash Children should stay home until they have been naturally without fever for at least 24 hours. Please do not give children fever-reducing medication and then send them to school.

EHS celebrated International Week last week. They had a door decorating contest, daily trivia, and find the flag hunt. Each day they highlighted a country connected to one of our students, including our exchange students from Spain and Sweden. Here is a photo of the flag winners for today. Emma Eagan and Adam Capatske found the flag. (Adam has found it three of the four days). They also ran a soccer tournament for International Week! On Tuesday, the freshman beat the sophomores, on Wednesday the juniors beat the seniors, on Thursday the freshman beat the juniors, and then on Friday the staff team beat the freshman! Here is the folder with the team pictures. Nolan Kummer was our ref throughout all four games!
