We haven't done this event since early 2020 and we are excited to be offering “Reality Check” to our seniors this year and would love your support in this event.
On Wednesday, February 15th, 2023 (snow makeup day is February 17th) approximately 130 Ellsworth High School students will participate in our annual “Reality Check!” event.
This interactive financial reality simulation helps students get a feel for life on their own. At the event, students are given a simulated paycheck with a monthly wage and are randomly assigned marital status, parenthood, and credit card debt. After going to “Uncle Sam,” who deducts taxes from their gross income, students must complete a number of financial transactions to make it through a typical month. They purchase housing, utilities, insurance, groceries, cars, childcare, gasoline, and more from booths staffed by volunteers.
If you are interested in volunteering please fill out this google form and our coordinator will be in touch with you.

Last week Mr Senti's AP Environmental Science class got a tour of Roberts Wastewater Treatment by plant manager John Bond. A portion of their treatment system is cutting edge biotechnology that uses algae to remove phosphorus from the wastewater. As extra algae is produced and removed, it can be dried and sold to companies to make bio-plastics. The green tubes you see are made of glass and is where the algae and water flow. There are over 7 miles of tubing running in their system.

Help protect your children -- and their classmates -- when they're under the weather, so that they can return to the classroom healthy and ready to learn.
When your child is sick:
The best thing you can do is to keep your children home when sick. This will help stop the spread of illness to other children and teachers. Keep them home when they show any of these symptoms:
-fever of 100 degrees F or higher
-nausea or vomiting
-severe headache
-diarrhea
-red, watery eyes with yellow or green drainage
-undiagnosed rash
Children should stay home until they have been naturally without fever for at least 24 hours. Please do not give children fever-reducing medication and then send them to school.
Any questions please reach out to our school nurse Bridget Nelson at nelsonbri@ellsworth.k12.wi.us or 715-273-3912

With Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday behind us, there's another day to look forward to: Giving Tuesday. The day of giving back is today, Nov. 29, and it's a great way for people across the country to think about their communities and to help those they don't know. Since its inception 10 years ago, the movement has raised billions of dollars for nonprofit organizations across the spectrum, whether it's for at-risk youth, the environment or pet adoptions.
People in our community still need our help and we are hoping you will consider helping our Gift Box Program. We still have 8 families/30 people in need.
If you can't sponsor a family we are accepting monetary donations as well. We have several high school students that are volunteering to do the shopping and wrapping for these families.
If you have questions please contact Anne Pechacek at pechaceka@ellsworth.k12.wi.us or 715-273-3904

Happy Thanksgiving!!

The STEM lab at EES is home to over 200 brown trout. They were tiny, pink eggs on Nov 10. They are now all hatched and growing each day! The fish will be released into a local trout stream in the spring.
