We are soon entering our winter season of Parent-Teacher Conferences, a crucial opportunity for nurturing a strong partnership on behalf of your child's education. Here are the conference dates and times: ES: Thursday, February 22, and Thursday, February 29, 4:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. MS: Thursday, February 29, and Thursday, March 14, 4:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. HS: Monday, February 26, 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Parent-teacher conferences serve as a vital bridge between home and school. They allow you to meet with your child's teachers, discuss progress, strengths, and areas for support, collaborate on academic goals, and learn about the upcoming curriculum. Your presence is not just an update on academic performance but most importantly, a collaborative time for you to share your needs and ask questions. Your child's education is a shared responsibility, and the Parent-Teacher Conference is a crucial step in building a strong foundation for that partnership. We look forward to welcoming you to discuss your child's progress, goals, dreams, and celebrations! Your attendance demonstrates a commitment to the power of partnerships - and Ellsworth Community Schools are committed to family and community involvement. Together, we can create opportunities for your child to flourish academically, socially, and emotionally. Unfortunately, schedules do not always align. If our conference dates and times won't work for your family, please reach out to your child’s teacher so that this valuable connection can happen in another way (i.e., email, phone call, etc.). Your active involvement is key to your child’s educational success, and we welcome your input. Thank you for your continued support in making Ellsworth Community School District a place of excellence! Sincerely, Ellsworth Community School District

This week is National School Counseling Week 2024!!!! Let's celebrate the incredible efforts and unique contributions of our phenomenal school counselors! 🌟 👥 School counselors help students examine their abilities, strengths, interests and talents; work in partnership with parents as they encounter the challenges of raising children in today’s world; focus on positive ways to enhance students’ academic, career and social/emotional development; and work with teachers and other educators to provide an educational system where students can realize their potential and set healthy, realistic and optimistic aspirations for themselves. School counselors are certified, experienced educators with a master’s degree in school counseling. The combination of their training and experience makes them an integral part of the total educational program. 🌈 Let's take a moment to express our gratitude to the amazing counselors we have here at ECSD! 🤗 Thank you for your dedication, compassion, and unwavering support. Your influence goes beyond the classroom, and we're truly fortunate to have such inspiring professionals shaping the future of our students. 🌟 💜💜Spread the love, share your stories, and let's make this National School Counseling Week a memorable one! 💜💜 Thank you to Ms. Wiskow & Mr. Smith at the high school, Mrs. Kyllo & Mrs. Fiala at the middle school, and Mrs. Groh, Mrs. Zimmer, & Mrs. Bennett-Deiss at EES.

Mrs. Johnson's class embarked on a powerful journey through a hunger simulation. Each student was randomly assigned a level upon entering the classroom, shedding light on the stark realities of poverty and inequality. 📜 Here are the assigned levels: Level 1 - Students sat on the floor, sharing whatever rice was available. Women graciously allowed men to serve themselves first, mirroring customs in many countries. Level 2 - After going through a line offering beans and rice, students sat on the floor. Again, women waited until the end of the line, following cultural norms. Level 3 - Students shared a table with Fried Rice, vegetables, and scrambled eggs. Level 4 - Seated and served a lavish meal of Spaghetti and meatballs, garlic bread, salad, Kool-Aid, and dessert. A reminder to eat as much as they pleased. Throughout the simulation, the class engaged in meaningful discussions about poverty and inequality. They explored the challenges of moving through these levels, acknowledging that it often takes several generations for a family to transition from Level 1 to Level 4. However, the key message was one of hope – it IS possible to overcome these challenges and move towards a more equitable society. Let's continue to educate ourselves and others on the realities faced by many, fostering empathy and working together to create positive change. 🌎💙
