January is the time of the year in which our schools transition into the second half of the school year. It is a great time to recognize the tremendous efforts of our staff this year. As we all know, schools and most businesses are facing unique challenges brought on by COVID and general labor shortages across the country.
Our local school operations have not been immune to shortages in staff on many days. Due to this, our staff members have had to demonstrate great flexibility as we simply operate without staff in a number of areas. A day does not go by in which we see staff members covering for each other and adjusting schedules to provide students the services they need. This is true for all areas of our staff. Teachers taking their prep times to cover for other staff, teacher assistants covering the duties of others, food service workers preparing meals shorthanded, custodians taking on more areas to clean or working overtime, bus and van drivers adjusting routes, secretaries fielding phone calls and helping students while short staffed, and directors and principals covering for staff are all happening daily.
As we move ahead into the second half of the year, please keep our staff in mind and be thankful for the work they do.Our staff go above and beyond every day, no matter the situation, to make the experiences great for our students. It is truly amazing to see the work they are doing.
Thank you to all of our staff!
Tickets are available at the HS office or CCF Bank.

This message is from the ECSD:
Good Evening,
School will be closed tomorrow, Friday December 10th due to the anticipated heavy snow and poor road conditions, especially in the southern portion of our School District. Due to the timing of the snowfall, the option of an early out from school would not benefit our bus routes. Students are encouraged to check their emails and the Google slide decks for course information. Please see ECSD Facebook and Website for updated information regarding events. Thank you!
Dawn Stark from Western Regional Center will be joining the ASD Support Group this Thursday (12/9) to talk about resources in our area and share information for families with kids with special needs ages 0-21.
A meal will be provided so please RSVP to Savannah Bertrand at sbertrand@co.chippewa.wi.us or Maisie Dahl at dahlm@ellsworth.k12.wi.us.

What a way to celebrate our veterans! EES had a first ever Veteran's Day program on November 11th. We were able to have a special guest speaker who is actively enlisted in the U.S. Army. Our 5th graders sang the National Anthem and also did a fun activity celebrating the 5 branches of the military. Lastly, we created a giant American flag using our entire student body.

There will be no school on Friday, November 19th.

Residents of the school district may soon be receiving a call offering the opportunity to participate in a telephone survey measuring a number of opinions about school district operations. We are once again working with The Morris-Leatherman Company to provide a community based survey to be delivered to residents. The survey is to be conducted starting the week of November 8th and will be completed prior to the Thanksgiving holiday.
The survey is very similar to surveys we have conducted in the past. The survey is a scientific based telephone survey. The Morris Leatherman Company will be calling a number of residents to compile the information needed to provide for a database that represents the District as a whole. The survey will provide valuable information regarding the publicโs perception of the Districtโs current operations, tax tolerance, level of support for referendum models, and preferred means of communication. This survey is a valuable tool for the district to get feedback from the public.
In April, 2018, the residents of the school district approved an Operational Referendum that allows the school district to exceed the state imposed revenue limit by $1 million per year for four years. This authority now expires at the end of the school year and the district is currently developing another Operational Referendum for the April, 2022 election.
We hope that all residents who receive a phone call for the survey can take the time to go through the process. It is a great avenue for residents to provide feedback about school district operations while also shaping the April, 2022 Operational Referendum.
