🌟 Recap of the Fun PAC Night Last Week! 🎨 We had an absolute blast at our latest PAC (Parents and Children) night! A huge thank you to Brush Strokes for leading an engaging and creative craft session that both parents and children enjoyed together. 🖌️👩‍👧‍👦 Our PAC program is designed for families with children who are not yet in school, focusing on development across various domains including sensory, motor skills, social-emotional learning, communication, and creativity. It's a wonderful opportunity for caregivers to explore important topics related to parent-child relationships, early childhood development, family experiences, and community connections. 🌱 At PAC night, everyone got to enjoy snacks and participate in a seasonal craft, adding an extra layer of fun and connection to the evening. 🍪✂️ If you're interested in joining us for our next PAC night on May 1st, RSVP to Melinda Casper (casperm@ellsworth.k12.wi.us, 715-273-3911) or Olivia Carlson (carlsono@ellsworth.k12.wi.us, 715-273-3912). Our second graders are diving deep into their lessons on government and community services, and we had a special visit that truly brought their learning to life! Local law enforcement officers paid us a visit to share insights into their important role in our community. 🚔 During the visit, the officers, including the amazing K9 deputy Ares, showed the kids what their job entails and even gave a thrilling K9 demonstration. The students were captivated and learned so much about how law enforcement serves and protects us every day. In preparation for their visit, our thoughtful students collected stuffed animals to donate to the officers. These toys will be given to children the officers work with, bringing comfort and smiles to those in need. Additionally, the kids put together snack baskets filled with goodies for our local and surrounding police departments—a small gesture of appreciation for their hard work. This experience was not only educational but also heartwarming as our young learners engaged in giving back to those who serve our community. 🌟 Well done, 2nd graders—learning and compassion in action! 🌟

Each year, member schools select one male and one female senior student-athlete to represent their school as Middle Border Conference Scholar Athlete. To be eligible, these students must have a minimum of 4 varsity letters and a 3.5 GPA. Each school is allowed to nominate one male and one female student-athlete. The 16 conference nominees, together with their friends and family, are invited to St. Croix Central High School for a banquet. There, they listen to a guest speaker, usually a former player or coach from the conference, are presented with their medal by their athletic director, and give a speech about what participating in high school athletics has meant to them. The 2024 MBC Female Scholar Athlete from Ellsworth is Molly Janke. Molly is the daughter of Jason and Chanda Janke. Molly is a decorated 3 sport athlete who has earned a total of 11 letters in Tennis, Basketball and Softball while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. She has participated at the state tennis meet and received Middle Border All Conference Awards as an individual in basketball, tennis, and softball. Molly will also graduate this spring as the school leader in points, steals, assists and rebounds in basketball and a proud recipient of Academic Elite Honors from the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association, one of only 15 athletes in the state to earn this credential, and has earned All-State Recognition in basketball 2 years in a row. Lastly, Molly has been selected to play in the WBCA All-Star Game this summer. Next year, Molly will be attending UW-LAX and will major in Exercise Science and is playing basketball for the Eagles. The 2024 MBC Male Scholar Athlete from Ellsworth is Logan Brand. Logan is the son of Steve and Mary Brand. Logan is a 2 sport athlete who has earned a total of 5 letters in football and basketball while maintaining a 3.6 GPA. Logan is also an active member in 4-H, FFA, NHS, Math League and Senior Council. He truly understands the impact that being involved can have on his future. Next year, Logan will attend Iowa State University and is majoring in Agricultural Business.
