Today 16 sixth graders spent the morning at the St. Croix Central Middle School competing in a math masters competition. This competition challenges students to use critical thinking and problem solving skills in mathematics. The day consisted of taking 8 tests, fact fluency, 4 individual rounds, and 3 team rounds. Overall the 6th graders did great with Ben Helseth taking home a 15th place ribbon in the fact fluency portion. During the Individual tests earning ribbons were, August Benoy 10th, Melanie Seeger 9th, Mackenzie Hince , and Ben Helseth medaling in 4th. In the team round our teams placed 8th, 5th, and 2nd overall out of 15 teams. Our second place team of Mackenzie Hince, Joey Knothe, August Benoy, Konrad Theis, and Luke Lundstrom earned Medals and a plaque for the school. Congratulations to all of the teams!

Mrs. Johnson's Food Service class used some of the money they made from cinnamon roll sales for 2 recent field trips. A visit to Common Man to learn about operating a restaurant and kids got to cook their own burgers in the kitchen. And a visit to Hanisch Bakery to tour behind the scenes of the Bakery.

EHS hosted Reality Check last week for their high school seniors. Reality check is an interactive financial simulation where students are assigned a profile with their career, monthly income & family. Student visited tables ran by over 50 community volunteers to spend their paycheck on savings, housing, transportation, insurance, groceries and many more life expenses. We had great feedback from students such as "Wow kids are expensive. I think I'm going to wait to have kids" and "I didn't realize groceries were so much money". We want to thank our community volunteers that came out to help on this day. Without you we couldn't do this event for our students. We really appreciate your support.
