Ellsworth Senior High School to have Late Start Dates for Collaborative Team Time

As part of our Professional Learning Communities movement, the Ellsworth Senior High School is implementing a series of late starts to the school day to provide for collaborative team time for our teachers. This collaborative team time is essential for our teachers to develop common assessments for their classes, study best practices in teaching, further develop curriculum, evaluate data regarding student learning and share ideas of how we can improve our school with a focus on student learning.  The schedule developed minimizes the loss of direct instruction while allowing for our teachers to work as teams.

Transportation and Student Supervision
Our regular school bus schedule will be followed on the late start days.  Students wishing to ride the bus to school should follow the normal busing schedule and will arrive at school at the usual time.  Students who ride the buses or come to school on their own at the usual time will have the opportunity to be in the cafeteria for studying.  This area will also have breakfast available for students.  Our IMC will also be available for students to study or use our computer lab.  These students will be supervised by non instructional staff during this time and students will be required to be in these areas from 7:30 a.m. to 8:15 a.m.

Late Start Daily Schedule
7:15 am - 8:15 am-Collaborative Team Time (no student classes)
8:20 am - 9:41am - First Block Classes
(Homeroom is eliminated after first block)
9:46 am - 2:50 pm - Normal Student Day Schedule.
