REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN!
Welcome! The Ellsworth Community School District is excited to provide you with some great summer learning opportunities for your child. Our summer school program runs from June 12 to June 30, 2017 from 8:00am-12:00 noon each day.
The pre-kindergarten class will be held at Hillcrest. The majority of all of the other classes will beh eld at the Middle School. Bussing will be provided to the High School, Hillcrest and the Middle School. See the bussing schedule on the reverse side.
Time: Summer school sessions will be 8:00-9:20am, 9:20-10:40am, and 10:40am-12:00 noon. This schedule allows each child to take 2 classes plus swimming and physical education/recreation, or 3 summer school classes.
Creating your child’s summer schedule: if your child will be riding the bus, he/she will be expected to sign up for a full schedule from 8:00am-12:00 noon. From the list of courses, choose at least 5 classes which match the needs, interests, and age level of your child. Number your choices, starting with “1” for the top priority, “2” for the second priority, etc. We will try to meet your top choices.
Swimming: if signing up for swimming, that counts as one session. Swimming lessons will run for the three-week period, so your child may progress through more than one level during this time. Sign up for the level in which you want your child to start swimming lessons. There is a $5.00 fee for swimming lessons. Class sizes are limited. Classes will be filled on a first-come, first served basis. Please include your payment for fees with your registration form.
The 40 minute swimming lesson will be complemented with 40 minutes of recreational games (in gymnasium or outdoors, depending on weather) to equal the time period of one summer school session. Thus, if you sign up for swimming, you only need 2 additional choices.
Transportation: seven bus routes are available, with pickup spots noted along these routes (see descriptions of routes). If you live along these routes, please have your child meet the bus along the route or at specific pickup points. If you wish to notify the bus garage that your child will be riding the bus along a specific route, please do so (715-273-3917). Otherwise, the bus will pick up children along the route. Attendance will be kept on each bus, so please notify the bus driver if your child will not be riding at any particular time, morning or afternoon.
Note: on a daily basis, if there are any changes in your child’s transportation arrangements, you must call the Middle School office at 715-273-3908 by 11:30 a.m, even if their classes are at Hillcrest. Staff assist children in getting on the right bus, so it is absolutely necessary that you contact the office regarding changes (e.g. if you are picking up the child, if the child needs to get off the bus at a different location like day care, etc.). If you are picking your child up from the Middle School, please wait for them near the Middle School office. Thank you for your cooperation in making sure all children are safe and supervised.
