What does the Foundation do?
For the past eight years, the Ellsworth Community School District Foundation has been providing funding for those educational opportunities that would not be available within ever limited budgets.
How does the Foundation operate?
The Foundation is managed by a highly dedicated board of directors which includes non-voting members of the school district to keep them informed on coming events at the school. The board manages funds in investments and endowments. The board, with the help and support of the Foundation charter members raise funds for grants for teacher's requests to enrich and enhance educational opportunities through the use of private funds. The board also manages multiple scholarships under its 501 (c) 3 status. The board also awards a "Teacher of the Year" to a current teacher to reward outstanding service to the school, the students and the community. The award comes with a cash prize.
How does the grant process work?
Current teachers fill out an application which is approved by the principal and superintendentand the Foundation board reviews the applications. If the application meets the Foundation's mission criteria, it is accepted, awarded and implemented. After the implementation, a press release is sent to the area media.
