Teacher of the Year Award
This is the highest honor the Ellsworth Community School District Foundation can bestow.  It is designed to recognize a teacher who has demonstrated an unusual commitment to inspire students to reach their goals.  Interested in nominating a teacher for the Teacher of the Year Award? In order to address the 5 emergency school closures so far this year, the School Board approved the following changes to the calendar as of February 10, 2014:
1. Approved the change to the high school start time to 7:35 beginning on Tuesday, February 18, 2014.
2. Approved the elimination of the high school Late Starts on Feb. 18, Mar. 18, Apr. 15, and May 13.
3. Approved the elimination of the Early Release on April 11, 2014 for the entire district.
4. Approved the moving of the end of Quarter 3 to Friday, April 4. This also moves the Early Release to Friday, April 4.
5. Approved to forgive January 27 as a student contact day only. (still considered a teacher contact day).
6. Approved extending the school calendar to June 9 and 10, with June 10th remaining an early release day (originally on June 5).
7. Approved the move of the start of Summer School to Thursday, June 12 and the end of Summer School to July 2.


Goal #1:  By the end of the Spring 2014 STAR testing window, the percentage of EMS students in the Intervention and Urgent Intervention categories in STAR Math/Reading will decrease by 20%.
Goal #2:  Based on the data from a pre-survey administered in late September, 2013 and a post-survey administered in early May, 2014, we expect:
(a) 80% of our EMS students to feel their school is a positive, nurturing environment in which encourages respect (among other positive character traits)   [with a minimal..]
(b) a 10% increase of students perception of respect within the building, and
(c) ultimately resulting in a minimum 20% decrease in bullying/harassment incidents (based on disciplinary reports) within the school by the end of the academic school year.
Goal #3:  By the end of the 2013-2014 school year, 80% of the students, grades 5-8, who scored a 2 or below on the Fall Holt Online Essay Scoring System pre-assessment will score a minimum of 4 on the Spring Holt Online Essay Scoring System post-assessment.
