Mrs. Asher’s third quarter Food Service class made and sold over 2500
Valentine sugar cookies raising $380 for charity! The donation went to the Pierce County food pantry where the students were able to deliver the check, tour the pantry and learn about the Hunger Prevention Council. Great job everyone!

Ellsworth Community School District
Four Year Old Kindergarten Registration

Two additional 4K registrations will be held at Lindgren Early Learning Center. This registration is for any child who will be four years of age by September 1, 2014, who will be attending 4YK in 2014-2015. No appointment is necessary. If you are considering requesting early admission (your child will not be four by September 1st) to 4K there are steps you must take. The deadline to apply for early admission is June 1, 2014.
 
Wednesday, April 30th – 3:30 – 6:00 p.m.
Monday, May 12th 3:30 – 6:30 p.m.
 
Attending a registration date is not required. All of the enrollment forms are on the District website under NEW STUDENT ENROLLMENT – Lindgren Early Learning Center. If you have any questions please call Lindgren at 792-2424.

Canvassing of the school board election will take place on Monday, April 7, 2014 at 4:15 pm in the School District Office.

In-Town Baseball/Softball Registration
Monday, April 28 from 4:30 to 7:00 PM at the Middle School.

In order to address the 5 emergency school closures so far this year, the School Board approved the following changes to the calendar as of February 10, 2014:
1. Approved the change to the high school start time to 7:35 beginning on Tuesday, February 18, 2014.
2. Approved the elimination of the high school Late Starts on Feb. 18, Mar. 18, Apr. 15, and May 13.
3. Approved the elimination of the Early Release on April 11, 2014 for the entire district.
4. Approved the moving of the end of Quarter 3 to Friday, April 4. This also moves the Early Release to Friday, April 4.
5. Approved to forgive January 27 as a student contact day only. (still considered a teacher contact day).
6. Approved extending the school calendar to June 9 and 10, with June 10th remaining an early release day (originally on June 5).
7. Approved the move of the start of Summer School to Thursday, June 12 and the end of Summer School to July 2.

Schools/districts are rated in four areas: student achievement, student growth, closing gaps, and postsecondary readiness.

2013-2014 Ellsworth School District Academic Goals
  1. By Fall 2014, the district will see an increase in the number of students scoring proficient/advanced by a minimum of 20% in READING based on the WKCE annual assessment results.
  2. By Fall 2014, the district will see an increase in the number of students scoring proficient/advanced by a minimum of 20% in MATH based on the WKCE annual assessment results.
  3. By Fall 2014, the district will decrease by 5% the gap in disaggregated student scores based on the WKCE annual assessment results – focusing on students with disabilities.
